OUR TECHNIQUES & ORGANISMS
If you are interested in learning more about any of the techniques or organisms we use in our lab please contact us.
Able to utilize microbial nanowires, cytochromes and other bacteria's electron shuttles to respire electrons, Geobacter sulferreducens is a model electricogen used in our lab. We have several different Geobacter sp. at our disposal and a currently on the quest for novel Australian species.
Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR)
We have isolated several different bacterial species from the rhizosphere of a Cd hyper-accumulator.
These microbes exhibit a variety of plant growth promoting activities as well and Cd tolerance.
MFC Competition studies
We use anaerobic Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs) to study bioflim competition & formation as well as microbial electricity production.
